Spring Snaps Buttons

A spring snap button (also called a snap fastener or press stud) is a small fastening device that uses a built-in spring mechanism to securely join two pieces of material and allow easy opening when needed.

 How It Works

A spring snap button usually has four parts:

  1. Cap (Top Cover) – visible outer part
  2. Socket (Female Part) – contains a small circular spring
  3. Stud (Male Part) – raised knob that fits into the socket
  4. Post (Bottom Support) – holds the parts in place

When pressed together:

  • The stud pushes into the socket.
  • The internal spring expands slightly.
  • The spring snaps around the stud, locking it in place.
  • You hear a small “click” sound.

To open:

  • Pull the two sides apart with moderate force.
